A man, who was injured by a gang of muggers on Saturday night, died at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Babul Miah, 40, son of Amzad Hossain, a resident of Hamidapur Uttarpara in Mithapukur upazila and a village doctor.
Humayun Kabir, officer-in-charge of Mithapukur Police Station, said a gang of muggers attacked Babul while he was retuning home after attending a patient at night and tried to snatch his motorcycle.
As the village doctor resisted, the muggers stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured.
Later he was taken to RMCH where he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday night, added the OC.
