Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a man from Gazaria village in sadar upazila on Friday night for his suspected involvement in Fulgazi upazila chairman Ekramul Haque murder.
The arrested was identified as Abul Hossain Jahangir, 40, son of Korban Ali of the village.
RAB sources said, a team of RAB-7 conducted a drive in the village and arrested Jahangir from a gamblers’ den at around 11:30 pm.
RAB suspected that Jahangir might have been involved in stabbing Ekramul Haque. Later he was handed over to Feni Model Police Station on Saturday.
A total of 23 people have so far been arrested in this connection. On May 20, Ekram, president of Fulgazi upazila unit of Awami League, came under attack by miscreants in front of Bilasi Cinema Hall in the morning on his way to Fulgazi town from his Masterpara residence.
The miscreants intercepted his microbus and opened shots at him from a very close range and then set fire to his vehicle. They left the scene after confirming Ekram’s death on the spot.
