One more dengue patient died in Dinajpur while a total of 348 patients were admitted to different hospitals across Bangladesh in the last 24 hours.
The deceased was identified as Shilpi Begum, 32. She died at M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital around 1:45am on Monday, said the hospital’s Assistant Director Shahadat Hossain.
Shilpi Begum was infected with dengue in Dhaka. She was hospitalised at Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital on September 24.
As her condition deteriorated, the doctors referred her to M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital in Dinajpur. She was admitted there on Sunday afternoon.
Till 8am on Monday, 100 new patients were admitted in Dhaka and 248 in districts.
Dengue, a mosquito-borne virus, spreads among humans through its carrier, the Aedes mosquito.
The Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room at the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), in a press release issued on Monday, said the number of patients currently undergoing treatment in government and private hospitals in the country was 1,481.
A total of 81 dengue patients died across Bangladesh from January 1 till
September 30, according to their own collected data. However, the unofficial death toll is reported to be over 168, so far.
As many as 555 patients were currently receiving treatment in 41 government and private hospitals in Dhaka, whereas 926 people were undergoing treatment outside Dhaka, the DGHS data said.
Since January 1 till September 30, as many as 87,953 people have been affected by dengue.
Among those admitted, a total of 86,281 have been released from their respective hospitals and clinics after treatment.
