Ship sank in Pashur channel: One more dead body recovered

One more dead body of the sunken ship MV Fardina-1 was recovered, taking he toll to three out of five. The ship with 600 hundred tones coal sank in the Pashur channel near the Mongla Sea Port. Five were recovered from the channel on Friday morning, according to a report received here.
As a result, some three dead bodies out of five missing staff of the ship were recovered so far. It was found floating in the channel towards the southern. The dead body was identified as Rabiul Islam (18), a staff of the sunken ship.
He hailed from Swarupkathi (Nesarabad) Upazila of Pirojpur district. His father Md. Mohiuddin (60), Master of the ill-fated balk-head and its staff named Zihad alias Jesan hails from Bhandaria Upazila in Pirojpur district are still missing. The balk-head ship had no current survey report certificate. It is allegedly reported that every day a good number of water vessels after violating the shipping laws of the country are carrying coals and other materials from Mongla, the 2nd Sea Port of the country to else where. As a result, such accidents are being taken place in the different water routes in and around of Mongla Port very often. It may be mentioned here that including the balk-head MV.Fardina-1 as many as five. water-vessel accidents took place during the last 11 months of the current calendar year while the water vessels were going else where from Mongla Port after loading various kinds of imported goods. Those water vessels had no survey certificates.
Commander Shaikh Fakhar Uddin, Harbour Master of Mongla Port authorities said that the sunken laden ship MV. Fardina-1 had no updated survey certificate.
