One auto van driver was killed and three others were injured when a Faridpur bound train from Rajbari hit a battery-run van in Gyandia area the district on Sunday afternoon.
Railway Police sources said the victim was identified as Babu Molla, 42, son of Hakimuddin of Ishan Gopalpur.
The sources said the accident occurred as the auto van came in contact with the running train while proceeding toward the same direction along the railway track. At one stage the van driver fell under the wheels of the train and died instantly. The passengers received injuries when the van was thrown into a roadside ditch by the impact of the running train.
The injured were admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital. A case was filed with Rajbari Railway police in this connection.
