A young man was killed in a clash between two groups of villagers in Sunamganj on Monday night. The deceased was identified as Fakhar Uddin, 25, supporter of Sobhan.
Sources said, The fight ensued following a longstanding dispute over possession of a water body in Monohorpur village in Korban Nagar Union.
Supporters of one Abdus Sobhan and one Monfor Mia engaged in the clash with sharp weapons and sticks near the disputed water body, said Sunamganj police OC Harun-ur-Rashid.
Fakhar died on spot when slashed up by sharp weapons.
Body of the 25-year-old man has been sent to the state-run hospital in Sunamganj for autopsy.
Police intervened and brought the situation under control and held eight persons later the day.
