Customs officials arrested a man along with six gold bars weighing 696 grams from Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on Thursday morning.
The arrestee was identified as Mohammad Idris, 39, hailing from Chittagong.
Sohel Rahman, joint commissioner of Dhaka Customs House, said Idris came here from Maskat by a flight of G9-517 around 08:35am.
The officials challenged him when he was coming out of the airport through the green channel and recovered six gold bars weighing 696 grams from hard plastic layer of his travel bag. The market value of the gold was around Tk34 lakh.
