Customs intelligence personnel arrested a person along with foreign currencies worth about Taka 1.25 crore from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city on Monday morning.
“We arrested one Md Mithu along with foreign currencies including US dollar, Saudi Riyal, Qatar Riyal, Euro, and UAE Dirham equivalent to Taka 1.25 crore from the airport on Sunday morning,”
deputy commissioner Shahed Ahmed of Dhaka Customs House told BSS on Monday.
The arrestee was going to Bangkok via Chittagong by a flight of Regent Airways, he also said. A case was lodged to this end.
The arrestee was handed over to Bimanbandar Police Station.
