One held with 2.1 kg gold at HSIA

Customs officials at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital detained a passenger from Singapore and recovered three gold bars weighing about 2.1 kg worth about Tk1 crore from his possession on Sunday night.
Contacted, Assistant Commissioner (Customs) Israt Zahan Ruma said they had information that a consignment of gold was being carried by a passenger to Dhaka from Singapore on Saturday night.
Based on the information, customs officials identified the passenger as Sujan, 22, at the boarding bridge just after he landed at the airport from an aircraft of Tiger Airlines from Singapore at about 11:00 pm and took him to the customs lounge, she said.
After searching his luggage, the customs officials found two gold bars each weighing 1 kg and one gold bar weighing about 100 grams. Legal actions have been taken against the passenger, AC Ruma added.
