One held with 16.40kg ganja in Rangpur

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-13) arrested a presumed drug trader with 16.40 kgs of smuggled ganja, a truck and other goods from Goda Shimla area in Mahiganj police station of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) on Thursday.
 “An operational team of the Crime Prevention Specialised Company (CPSC) of RAB-13 searched a maize-laden truck there on the Lalmonirhat-Rangpur highway and arrested the drug trader with the smuggled drugs,” a press release said here on Thursday.
The elite force seized the truck, ganja packed in three sacs and specially put aboard the maize-laden truck, a mobile phone set and one SIM card from the possessions of the arrested person.
The arrested drug trader is Md. Shakhawat Hossain alias Shafayat, 21, son of Md. Motiar Rahman of village Mouza Saghati in Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat district.
 “During interrogation, he admitted that he had been tactfully carrying ganja aboard trucks loaded with various goods after purchasing from bigger drug traders of Lalmonirhat frontiers and trading those in Rangpur and other areas of the country,” the release added.
After filing a case in this connection, the elite force handed over the arrested drug trader to Mahiganj police station in Rangpur metropolis.
