Police have detained a former madrasah official during investigation into the murder of Chittagong Nursing College teacher Anjali Rani Debi five months ago.
Mohammad Reza, 48, was picked up from the port city’s GEC Intersection on Saturday night and taken to the Detective Branch (DB) office at Laldighi.
DB Inspector Keshab Chakraborty, who is investigating the case, said Reza is a former real estate officer of Al-Jamia Al-Islamia Madrasah at Patia.
On Jan 10, miscreants hacked Anjali Rani to death at Telipatti in Chittagong city .
After her husband Rajendra Chowdhury had filed the case over the murder, he allegedly received threats on his mobile phone.
He has also filed a complaint over the threat.
