Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested a man on charge of abduction and taking ransom Tk 50 lakh from a Bangladesh origin British citizen posing as a source of law enforcers from the city.
The arrested man has been identified as Haji Alam, from Dia Bari area of the capital.
A team of the RAB-4 raided the city’s Dia Bari area around 12:30am and arrested him from the area. Mufti Mahmud Khan, Director of the Legal and Media Wing of the elite force told the reporters in RAB Media Center on Monday morning.
“British citizen Yasin Mohammed Abdus Samad was taken in guise of law enforcers in front of the Banani Police Station on July 14. Later, Alam took Tk 50 lakh as ransom from the family of Yasin,” RAB official said.
