One gets life-term for murder

A court of Chittagong in a verdict here on Sunday sentenced a man to life-term imprisonment for killing his sister’s husband in Fatikchari Upazila of the district.
Additional Chittagong district Session Judge Nur-e-Alam pronounced the verdict convicting one tea garden worker Nidad Kormakar, for killing his brother-in-law Horimohon Roy in 2007. The court also fined him Taka 20 thousand, in default, to suffer one year more imprisonment.
The prosecution story, in brief is that Nidad killed his brother-in-law (sister’s husband), to death over a family feud, in Ramgar area of Fatikchari upazila in October 3, 2007. Younger sister of the victim, Dipali Roy filed a murder case with Fatikchari Police Station against Nidad.Police submitted charge-sheet on March 13, 2008 and the court framed charges against him on August 4 in 2009. The court after examining 16 out of 18 prosecution witnesses awarded the judgement convicting Nidad Kormakar in absentia.Nidad Kormaker absconded soon after the murder, police sources said.

 Commissioner of Police, CMP issued the order of posting and transfer on Sunday evening, a CMP sources said. According to sources, Deputy commissioner (North) Paritosh Ghosh has been transferred in vacant post of DB police.The three newly posted DCPs are – Newly promoted Police supers Waris Ahmed posted ad DCP(North), Police super Farukul Hoque posted as DCP(West), Police super Abu Sayem posted as DCP(Port) under Traffic Deptt and Addl. DCP(in-charge) of Port zone Sujaet Ahmed transferred in North zone of same deptt, sources said.
