A Chittagong court in a verdict here on Thursday sentenced a youth to life term rigorous imprisonment for killing his friend at city’ Miakhan Nagar of Bakalia area in 1997.
The court of Chittagong Divisional Special Tribunal Judge Mir Ruhul Amin pronounced the verdict convicting Mohmmad Younus, for killing his friend Shamsher Ali. The court also acquitted another three friends of victim for not probe the allegation against them, court sources added.
The prosecution story, in short, is that Younus gunned down to his friend Shamsher Ali after taking away him at Chairman Ghata area under Bakalia, in the city in the name of buying tape recorder on November 3 in 1997.
Later, victim’s father Dewan Ali filed a murder case with the then Chandgaon Police Station against Younus, Nasrat Ullah, Iqbal and Golam Morshed. Police submitted charge-sheet on August 7, 1998 while the court framed charged on 1st March in 2001. The court after examining four out of 16 prosecution witnesses passed the judgment convicting Younus who is now absconding.
