City Bank recently signed an agreement with Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD) and CodersTrust Bangladesh with an aim to facilitate the development of IT related capabilities of Bangladeshi freelancers, says a press release on Wednesday.
CodersTrust Bangladesh, a Danish organization, is involved in enhancing freelancing skills. It offers training courses on various IT related businesses for freelancers. ICD, established in 1999, is a part of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Group.
Under the agreement, City Manarah (the Islamic Banking wing of City Bank) will partly finance the training fees for the qualified students of CodersTrust. ICD will collaborate in the financing scheme with ‘Biniog Sathi Banking Model’, which utilizes Shariah compliant financing mode.
As freelancing is becoming a strong source of remittance for the country, the partnership between these three organizations will help freelancers strengthen their skills with easy to avail financial support.
Sohail R. K. Hussain, MD & Chief Executive Officer of City Bank and Farid Masmoudi, Director of Islamic Corporation for The Development of The Private Sector (ICD), IDB and Md. Ataul Goni Osmani, Country Director, CodersTrust signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations. Faruq M. Ahmed and Mashrur Arefin, Additional Managing Directors of City Bank and other senior officials of the partner organizations were also present at the signing ceremony.
