One gets life for violating girl child in Barishal

A Barishal court on Wednesday sentenced an absconding accused to life imprisonment for violating a girl-child.
The convicted absconding accused was Mahbub Bepari, 27, son of Abdul Malek Bepari of Tetla village under Banaripara upazila of the district.
The court also fined him Tk 1 lakh or to suffer more one year imprisonment in default. Abu Shamim Azad, judge of the tribunal for preventing torture against women and children, declared this verdict eleven years after the incident on Wednesday afternoon after examining 11 witnesses and other evidences.
Ajibor Rahman, bench clerk of the tribunal giving brief history of the case informed that, the then 16-years old accused alluring the four-year old victim for giving chocolate brought to nearby garden and violated her on July 13, 2008 noon in Udoykathi village of the upazila. Mujahar Hossain, maternal grandfather of the victim as complainant lodged a case in this connection on October 5, 2008.
Sub Inspector Sanjib Chandra Shil, investigation officer of the case, submitted charge sheet against the accused Mahabub on November 7, 2008.
