One gets 7-yr jail for distorting PM’s photos

A trial court of Rajshahi yesterday convicted a person and sentenced him to seven years in the prison on charge of distorting photos of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Indian former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh with uploading those on social media.
Judge of Rajshahi Cyber Tribunal Ziaur Rahman on Monday found the convict Aktar Hossain, 45, guilty of the charge and pronounced the verdict in his presence in the court. The tribunal also fined him Taka 100,000, in default, to suffer three more months in the prison.
Public Prosecutor of the tribunal Ismat Ara told the journalists that Aktar Hossain had posted two objectionable photos in his face book on September 2, 2015.
Being aggrieved with the incident Mukhlesur Rahman, a resident of Shingra in Natore district, filed the case as complainant.
After examining recor-ded depositions of five prosecution witnesses and other relevant evidences, the tribunal handed over the verdict on Monday.
