One alleged accused in a women repression case named Md. Rokunuzaman (40) died in police custody under Panchalaish thana in city on Wednesday midnight.
Police sources said, the accused Rokunuzzaman was suffering from heart diseases and lack of proper sugar level he expires . But the local people sources said the victim was killed by police torture.
Additional Deputy Police Commissioner Md. Shahidullah told that sensing the news of the death incident of the accused, he rushed to the hospital and did not find any sign of torture and injury in his body. None of his family members as yet submitted any complaint against police torture , and the investigation on death will be undertaken after receipt of proper complaint, he added.
Police and local sources said Rokunuzzaman is an officer of one Insurance company and resides at Bakalia area in city and a rape case was filed against him few days ago before the Panchalaish thana . Centring the rape case, police arrested him from his residence after midnight of Wednesday and remained with police custody.
