Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested one alleged smuggler along with 2.5 kg gold from Daulatpur village of Benapole Port Police station on yesterday (Sunday) night.
The arrestee was identified as Shamim Hossain, 27 son of Late Sirajul Islam of the village.
Lt Col Imran Ullah Sarkar, commanding officer of BGB-21 Battalion,said on secret information regarding huge amount of gold being smuggled to india a team of BGB conducted raid in this area and arrested Shamim with the gold . The price of the gold bars is about Tk 1 crore 25 lakh BGB said.
Later Shamim was handed over to Benapole Port Police Station. A case was filed in this connection.
