Police recovered 1100 kgs rice allotted for Open Market Sale (OMS) from Dhighalia Upazilla of the district on Wednesday .
Four persons were arrested in this connection. One kg rice is sold at Tk 10 only in OMS for the poor. A case has been registered against the dealer and a leader of ruling party at Dighalia Thana of the district.
Police said dealer Abdur Rouf Gazi and his son Abdur Rob Gazi of village Kamargati of the upazilla used to sale rice allotted for OMS to black market at higher price. Acting on secret information police raided the house of one Nuruzzaman Shaikh son of Keramat sheikh last night and recovered about 1100 KG rice. On his confessional statement another three persons were arrested.
UNO sealed the OMS shop with 90 sacks rice.
Dealer Rouf and his son could not be arrested. The arrested persons are Nuruzzaman, Abdul Karim Shaikh, Akman Sarder and Kamrul Gazi.
