Fortified Atta (Flour) selling under government Open Market Sale (OMS) programme has been continuing at Patuakhali. Municipality creating positive impact to the poor.
The Government has been conducting the OMS programme in the Municipality area for the last few months in bid to control food prices for feeding poor at lower price.
Department of food sources said, total of 10 sale centers of Fortified Atta are being sold every day except Saturday.
Each of the consumers is allowed to purchase at lest 5 Kg’s of rice or Atta form the center and the price of per Kg of Rice 24 TK and Atta Per KG 22 Tk. has been fixed said Abdur Razzak, a dealer of the Department.
While visiting on OMS center at Nutan Bazar of the Town here on Monday this correspondent found that many poor men and women were purchasing Atta from the outlet in long quere.
Abdul Majid Howlader a Dweller of Patuakhali Municipality, Said the programme had created positive impacts to the poor as they were purchasing Atta from the OMS dealers at reasonable price fixed by the Government.
He also urged the government to open more OMS outlets in other parts of the District so that they poor could purchase the slope easily from there without any trouble.
Talking to the New Nation Patuakhali Sadar Upazila Food Controller MD. Manirul Huque said the Programme would continue till starting the harvest of T-Aman Paddy of the current season.
Monitoring and supervising by the officials had been geared up in the District so that any dealers could not sell the OMS, Rice and Atta in Black Markets, he also said.
