OMCH doctors’ work abstention continues

The 10-day work abstention programme, enforced by the Prokrichi-BCS (26 cadre) Coordination Committee protesting what it said was discrimination in the 8th national pay scale, entered its 9th day on Tuesday.

consecutive day as part of their 4-day programme,
Their work abstention created much suffering for the patients.
They also held a rally at the outdoor department of the hospital where speakers said they would continue their one-hour work abstention everyday till December 30 to realise their seven-point demand.
They will go for a tougher programme if their requirements are not fulfilled within the expected time, the speakers announced.
4 held over subversion in M’bazar
Police in separate drives arrested four Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leaders, a Swechchhasebak Dal leader and a leader of Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (Jasas) from different places of the district on Monday over subversion plan .
The arrestees were identified as Nurul Alam Noman, former general secretary of JCD district unit, Foysal Ahmed, senior joint convener of the district Swechchhasebak Dal, Maruf Ahmed, president of Jasas district unit and municipality JCD leader Mahbubur Rahman Shipon.
Shipon was wanted in a case over subversive activities.
Officer-in-charge of Moulvibazar Model Police Station Abdus Shalek said they were arrested on suspicion of carrying out subversive activities during municipality polls.
