An old woman named Anju Rani (70) was killed on the spot when a coconut-tree was uprooted and fell on her in the village Lakurtala within Rayenda Union under Sharankhola Upazila in Bagerhat district following a cyclonic storm that swept over the area in the evening of Sunday, according to a report received here. She was the wife of one late Bidhan Dewri of village Dhansagar within Dhansagar Union under the same Upazila. The ill-fated woman came to the village Lakurtala only three days ago to pay a visit to her brother’s residence. At the evening of Sunday when a cyclonic storm was sweeping over the village as soon as the ill-fated woman came out from the house a coconut-tree was uprooted and fell down on her all on a sudden.
As a result, the old woman was killed on the spot. It was confirmed by Shahajan Bellal Zomaddar, the UP member of the concerned Ward of Dhansagar Union Parishad.
