An old man was crushed to death under a running Chattogram bound Inter City Express train’ Meghna’ from here on Chandpur-Laksham rail route at Shibpur area in Shahrasti Upazila early in the morning on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Shahidullah,85, a small farmer, hailed from Olipur village under Shahrasti Upazila.
Chandpur Railway Police OC Sarwar Alam has said, while the old man was crossing the railway track with his domestic goats, due to his hard of hearing, he did not listen to the whistle of nor he saw the running train, and that’s why, he was crushed to death at Shibpur . On getting information from the local people, later Chandpur Railway Police men recovered the shattered body of the old man from the spot at noon. With permission from Additional District Magistrate, the body was handed over to the close kin of the old man at 4. pm.
