An old man was killed at around noon at Chandpur General Hospital after he was hit and injured seriously by a motorbiker in front of Bhangarpar Madrasa in Matlab Dakhshin on Matlab -Baburhat Road in the morning.
The deceased was identified as Manjil Prodhania,60, a farmer and resident of Bhangarpar in Matlab Dakhshin Upazila town.
Quoting witnesses Matlab Dakhshin Thana OC Swapan Kr Aich has told this correspondent that while crossing the road, he was hit and run over by a motorbiker. At once Manjil was rushed to Matlab Upazila Health Complex. At around 10 am, he was referred to Chandpur General Hospital where the on duty doctor declared him dead at 11 am.
Residential Medical Officer Dr Shujauddowla Rubel confirmed the report.
Police seized the motorbike. OC Swapan Kr Aich has told this correspondent that if any case is filed by the victim’s family, legal action will follow. Till now, no case was filed.
