Many BNP men, including leaders, supporters and agents, have gone hiding to avoid the targeted attacks by the ruling party and arrest by the law enforcing agencies in order to make them out of election.
The ruling party men have given threats to the supporters and voters of the correspondents.
They have handed over to list of anti-government candidates’ leaders, supporters and voters to the cops personnel to arrest before polls.
A section of cop personnel have continued to arrest BNP leaders, supporters, voters and campaigners and agents in new and old ghost cases.
BNP claimed that at least nine activists were killed, 13000 injured in 30000 attacks and over 10,000 party men were arrested and six candidates were sent to jails after announcing the schedule of the 11th national election.
In the meantime, BNP has announced that it has no polling agents in three constituencies of Shariatpur district and no agent will be deployed in another constituency of Patuakhali district.
The party internal sources said that BNP’s several hundred agents had gone hiding to avert the arrests after getting repeated threats by the ruling AL men and law enforcing agencies.
In the latest, Police detained seven leaders and activists of BNP during an election campaign in Housing Estate area of Sylhet city Thursday night.
Police also arrested five agents of BNP’s Chattogram-8 constituency (Boalkhali-Chandangaon) candidate Abu Sufian from Chandangaon on Friday, said Chandangaon OC Abul Bashar.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Senior Joint-Secretary General of BNP, claimed that law enforcers arrested over 10,000 of its activists since the announcement of polls schedule on November 8.
 “Nine BNP activists have been killed in polls violence so far. At least 13,252 activists of Jatiya Oikyafront suffered injuries in 2,896 attacks. Its leaders and activists were sued in 844 fake cases since then,” Rizvi said.
Rizvi also condemned the attacks on candidates of Sheaf of Paddy, leaders and activists of BNP and demanded unconditional release of party men who were detained after announcement of polls schedule.
The agents are now in panic as law enforcers failed to stop the ruling party men’s attacks on BNP leaders, supporters and polling agents, he said.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Mohammad Javed Patwari said that Police would not harass any BNP men and polling agents.
He denied the allegation of intentional arrests as per the ruling party list and said that police arrested the all BNP men as per specific allegations.
