The opposition parties under Dr Kamal Hossain, Jatiya Oikya Prokriya on Sunday evening agreed to move for the release of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
Leaders of parties within the alliance sat in a meeting on Sunday evening and decided to move to press for a five-point charter that includes freedom of Khaleda.
“From now on, we will move collectively under the banner of Jatiya Oikya Prokriya on five-point demands including Khaleda Zia release,” BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said in a press briefing after the meeting.
The meeting was held at BNP Standing Committee Member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain’s residence in Gulshal-2 and began around 7:30pm, meeting sources said.
Nagorik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, its standing committee member Moudud Ahmed, and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal President ASM Abdur Rab were among those who attended the meeting.
