Staff Reporter :Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation [OIC] Iyad Ameen Madani arrived in Dhaka on Saturday afternoon on a three-day official visit to strengthen cooperation between Bangladesh and the organisation.It is his second visit to Bangladesh. He has come here as a part of his four-country tour. Five officials of the OIC are also accompanying him, a Foreign Ministry press release said.In his first visit, he came to Dhaka on March 8 last year.Madani will meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today [Sunday] morning and discuss about the latest situation of Islamic world. He will also hold meetings with Foreign Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali and foreign secretary M Shahidul Haque at their offices in the afternoon. The issues of the Muslim world, including peace, security and development, might come up for discussion.The current situation in Yemen, Syria, Male, suicidal attacks in different Muslim countries and recent bomb attacks in Saudi Arabia may also be discussed.As per the schedule, he would visit International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research [ICDDR, B] in Dhaka. Besides, he will discuss with the Bangladesh leaders over financial cooperation in different development projects. Madani took office as the 10th secretary general of the OIC on January 1, 2014. After United Nations, the OIC is the second largest international organisation that groups together 57 Muslim countries spreading over four continents.
