To save electricity in the country, the schedule of government offices has been changed to 8 am. instead of 9, but the officials do not come to the offices at the scheduled time in Bhuapur Upazila of Tangail. Due to this, people who have come to take government services in the morning have to wait for hours for the concerned official’s assistance.
On Sunday (August 28) after 8 a.m., such a scenario was noticed in various government offices of Bhuapur Upazila. At 8:30 in the morning, the whole office of Ekti Bari, Ekti Khamar was found empty except a field worker. At that time, concerned officer Moniruzzaman’s room was also found empty. Upazila Statistics Officer, Zahidul Islam’s office was opened at 8:35 a.m. but he was not present there in due time.
The same scenario was noticed in the office of the Upazila Accounting Officer. At 8:37 a.m. an Office Assistant was found busy cleaning the office room of Mohsin Raza, Upazila Accounts Officer. Upazila Food Officer Kazi Hamidul Haque was also not found at his office even at 8:42 a.m.
Meanwhile, Upazila Secondary Academic Supervisor Tahmina Akhtar was not in her office room even though the fan and lights were on wasting the power ignoring government directives. In Upazila Social Service office, any officials also could not be found even at 8:30 a.m.
Upazila Sub registrar’s office was also locked up even at 8:50 a.m. There were no officials in Upazila Fisheries Office that is next to it. Even if the fisheries officer did not come but the fourth-grade employees were there present at office.
Besides, no officials were found at the Upazila Livestock Office even at 9:10 am except one compounder. Livestock Officer Dr Swapan Kumar Debnath’s office room was also locked up. Meanwhile, the office room of upazila land Office was opened but there were no staffs.
Fazlul Rahman, an inhabitant of Panchterilla village of Falda union of upazila said he came to the upazila Social Service Office at 8 a.m. to submit an application form. But without finding anyone in the office, he is sitting in a place next to the Upazila Parishad and waiting.
At this time, many people seeking government services in different offices said, we have come in the morning so that the work could be completed quickly. But in morning, no one officials is found before 9 o’clock. In many offices, officials come after 10 o’clock and leave the office again after noon.
Mohsin, the compounder of the upazila livestock office, said, there is a shortage of people in the office. So in the morning I come and do everything. He also added, Livestock Officer came but maybe he went to visit a firm. Upazila Sub-Registrar Kamruzzaman Kabir said the matter of not opening the office at the scheduled time is unknown to me. I will take the necessary initiative in this regard in my office from tomorrow indeed.
