A man was hacked to death by miscreants at Machain village in Harirampur upazila on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Billal Hossain, 47, son of late Helal Molla of Kakrol village of the upazila.
Officer-in-charge of Harirampur Police Station Nazrul Islam said a gang of miscreants attacked Billal in the area while he was returning home from his workplace at Machain Bazar by a bicycle around 9.00pm.
At one stage, the attackers stabbed Billal indiscriminately with sharp weapons, leaving him dead on the spot.
Locals spotted the body of Billal lying in the area on Thursday morning and informed police.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Manikganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
