Professor Jyotish Barua, former teacher of Pali Department of Chittagong University, died of old-age complications in the early hours of Saturday at his Betari Goli residence in Kotwali of Chittagong. He was 71.
Professor Barua left behind his wife, a son and three daughters, a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
He joined the department in 1978 and retired in 2012, Founder Chairman of the Pali Department Professor Dr Dipankar Srijnan Barua told.
A condolence meeting was held at 10 am at Nandan Kanan Bouddha Bihar in Chittagong where a number of students, teachers and his relatives were present.
Barua was cremated at his village Panchkhain in Raozan upazila of Chittagong.
