The much awaited final football match of 4th Khondoker Nurul Hossain Nuru Mia gold cup will be held on October 3 at local Shaikh Jamal Stadium after Jessore district moved to final beating Manikganj district team in the tie breaker in second semi-final match played on Saturday.
Jessore will meet the host Faridpur team, the reigning champion of the last three encounters that started in 2009. Earlier star studded Faridpur team blanked Barisal by 4-0 goals in the first semi-final played on last Friday.
The champion team will get the gold trophy and a cash prize money of Taka 3 lakh while the runner-up team will be awarded a silver trophy and a cash prize money of Taka 2 lakh.
The current tournament that began on last September 14 was inaugurated by Finance Minister AMA Muhit at the newly renovated Shaikh Jamal Stadium. In the current knockout tournament, 13 teams including a team from Kolkata participated.
The tournament was introduced at the personal initiatives of Overseas Employment and Expatriate Welfare Minister Engineer Khondoker Mosharraf Hossain after the name of his late father Khondoker Nurul Hossain, a veteran social worker of this area.
