A female student of Sylhet Nursing Institute has allegedly committed suicide by taking excessive sleeping pills at her hostel room.
The deceased was identified as Akhi Alamgir, 18, daughter of Alamgir Hossain of Dhakaiya Para in Sadar upazila of Khulna district.
Akhi had been living in the room No 205 on the first floor of the hostel in the city’s TB gate area.
As Akhi did not wake up as of late morning and as she did not respond to repeated calls, hostel authorities informed police of it, said officer-in-charge of Airport Police Station Shah Jamal.
Later, the law enforcers entered the room breaking open the door around 11am only to see the female student lying dead.
They sent the body to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
The OC suspected that Akhi committed suicide by taking excessive sleeping pills. But the reason behind the suicide could not be known yet.
