The 5th Convocation of Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) was held recently at NUB Permanent Campus, Ashkona, Dakkhin Khan in the city.
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni, MP presided over the ceremony on behalf of the President and Chancellor Abdul Hamid. While Ayman Sadiq, Founder-CEO, 10 Minute School and Hussain M Elius, CEO, Pathao Ltd were present as the convocation speakers. The ceremony was also addressed by Professor Dr. Abu Yousuf Md. Abdullah, Hon’ble Chairman, NUB Trust and Prof Dr Anwar Hossain, Vice-Chancellor, NUB.
Education Minister, Dr Dipu Moni, MP opined that the private universities must take measures to remove all the barriers in respect of imparting quality higher education in their own interest. More sincere endeavors of the private universities are required to attain the desired goal. She congratulated the graduates and urged upon them to work for the interest of the common people.
Undergraduate and graduate degrees were conferred on the 3435 students from different disciplines, and ten meritorious students were awarded Gold Medals for their excellent results. Convocation Speaker Ayman Sadiq congratulated the graduates who received their degrees and said that Students of NUB will undoubtedly play a vital role in what is to come next in our country, and Hussain M Elius said that world is moving faster, so we must learning ourselves with technology based. Education does not stop in our schools and universities- we all have to learning and to keep on moving forward.
Dr Mashiur Rahman, Advisor to Prime Minister on Economic Affairs was present as the Guest of Honor and Prof Dr Kazi Shahidullah, Chairman, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh was present as special guest. Vote of thanks was conducted by Pro-Vice Chancellor of NUB, Prof Dr Engr Md. Humayun Kabir.
All Deans, Heads of the departments, teachers, administrative staffs, journalists, educationists and Vice- Chancellors of different universities attended the convocation program.
