NPIUB gets new VC

Noted academics, aerospace and weather scientist Prof Dewan Abdul Quadir took over the charge of Vice Chancellor of NPI university of Bangladesh, Manikgonj. President and Chancellor of the universities Advocate Abdul Hamid appointed him recently.
In 1979, Prof Quadir obtained PhD in Meteorology and Climate Science from Moscow State University after receiving the Honours and Master’s Degree in Physics. In 1980, he joined as Senior Scientific Officer at the Center for Space and Atmosphere Research in Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission. Later, he was entrusted with the Bangladesh Space Research and Remote Sensing Organization.
In 1984-1985, he involved research on the use of technology and training at post-doctoral level, meteorology, climate, agronomic weather, disaster monitoring, arthrology and ocean science and geoscience and use of GIS technology under NASA’s research firm Godrej Space Flight Center (GSFC) and Louisiana State University in Maryland, USA.
That was a revolution in the field of digital technology in Bangladesh and Dr Quader along with the relevant scientists were obtained group achievement award from NASA.
He has extensive research on climate change, disaster preparedness, monitoring and evaluation of agricultural crop map, analysis of monsoon variations, a map of forest and water resources, forestry in coastal areas, increasing sea level height including innovation and cyclone formation, power structure etc. under European Union Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the Meteorological Department of the University of Reading, UK.
Dr. Quadir con celebrate ‘developing country’ status ducted extensive research on climate change as the head of the SAARC projects of UNFPA, UNEP, World Bank, Asian Development Bank. During this time, more than seventy research articles and numerou scientific reports of Dr. Quadir were published in the national and international journals.
