A female student has been beaten severely by miscreants on the Chistiya Road of Konapara in the city’s Demra area on Saturday when she rejected their love proposal.
The victim is a second year student of a private university in the capital and lives with her family at Demra.
She received serious injuries in different parts of the body, including nose, face and head, when a gang of four miscreants led by one Badsha alias Babu beat her indiscriminately blocking her way to the house. They also hit her head with a piece of brick causing severe injuries. Local people rushed to the spot hearing the scream and caught two of the miscreants after brief chase. The agitated people handed over the culprits to local Bansherpul police outpost after good beating.
Severely injured girl was admitted to One Stop Crisis Centre at Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Brother of the victim told the newsmen that a gang of miscreants namely Max Babu, Imran, Babu and Rakib had been disturbing his sister for long. They blocked the way of her sister yesterday and gave her love proposal. When she rejected that, the miscreants beat her mercilessly.
Officer-in Charge of Demra Police Station Sirajul Islam said, “We have been informed about the matter. We are conducting operation to nab the culprits.” Sister of victim, Shilpi Begum, said that her sister earned some money doing part-time job to cover her expenditure in the university. Recently, a class eight girl student was severe beaten by a miscreant on the open street in Habiganj when she rejected his love proposal. Police arrested the culprit Rubel on Friday.
