‘None can grab public property’

Housing and Public Works Minister SM Rejaul Karim made it clear that none would be able to grab public property of National Housing Authority (NHA).
“The land or assets belongs to the state. Such state property will be protected shrugging off all sorts of influence and interference. All will have to remain vigil in this regard,” the Minister said this on Wednesday while exchanging views with officers of National Housing Authority at its conference room here.
Rejaul Karim said usually those who have amassed a lot of wealth and muscle power tend to grab property and adopt various strategies in this regard.
“Honest, transparent, accountable and corruption-free environment should be ensured at the workplaces to stop such illegal activity. Besides, dynamism should have to be infused in the activities of the NHA to ensure services to the countrymen,” he added.
Stressing the need for building more people-friendly environment at the ministry and also at its subordinate organisations, Rejaul also directed the officials concerned so that the common people are not harassed while getting their services.
Housing and Public Works Secretary Md Shaheed Ullah Khandaker and Chairman of the National Housing Authoring Md. Rashidul Islam, addressed the event, among others.
