No Shaheed Minar at 952 pry schools in Rajshahi

Most primary schools in Rajshahi district have no shaheed minar, a monument to commemorate the martyrs of 1952 language movement.
Students of those institutions are being deprived of showing their own respect to the martyrs on 21st February as no Shaheed Minar has been built in their institutions even after 67 years of the language movement.
But the students of some schools go to faraway shaheed minar in other educational institutions to pay respect to the heroes who sacrificed their own lives in the language movement.
According to the sources of district primary education office, nine hundred fifty-two schools, out of 1059, do not have their own shaheed minar although it is an instruction of the government to observe the international mother language day on February 21 in all educational institutions across the country.
A written instruction already has been given to those institutions to build up shaheed minars very soon in their institution respectively.
Some students of Budhpara primary school in the city said, they have no shaheed minar adding that each year, they go to the shaheed minar of Rajshahi University to pay respect to the language movement heroes.
Fariya Sultana, a head teacher of Mohammodpur primary school in the city said that teachers and students of the institution pay respect to the heroes of language movement setting up a temporary shaheed minar.
Abdus Salam, an employee of Rajshahi district primary education office said The New Nation that a total of 107 primary schools in the district out of 1059, have shaheed minar and it will be built very soon in other institutions.
