General Secretary of Awami League Obaidul Quader on Saturday reiterated his stance saying that there is no scope for dialogue with the opposition parties.
The election was held in a good manner and the AL-led grand alliance won with majority seats. Now the leaders of some opposition parties are demanding for a fresh election under a nonpartisan caretaker government, which is illogical,” he said.
Obaidul Quader said this while talking to media after inspecting the activities of two mobile courts on Manik Mia Avenue in Dhaka in the morning.
“Democratic countries have extended their support to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina before the formation of the new government. So, there is no need for holding any such dialogue,” Quader said.
Jatiya Oikyafront Convener Dr Kamal Hossain, on January 10, claimed the December 30 election was “farcical”, and called for a national dialogue to find a way for holding a fresh election as per the constitution.
Along with that, the Left Democratic Alliance (LDA), a coalition of eight left-leaning political parties also recently demanded the same bringing widespread allegations of vote rigging and ballot stuffing in the recently concluded polls.
“It is nothing but an undesirable demand,” Quader added.
About the discipline on roads and highways, Quader said the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) will continue the activities of the mobile court in a bid to bring discipline on the roads.
Responding to a query, he said the people will have to change their attitude or else the mismanagement on the streets cannot be eradicated.
