‘No plot can hinder country’s progress’

Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim on Monday said the government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would take ahead the country defeating all sorts of conspiracies like target and secret killings.
“Different evil forces are hatching conspiracies to tarnish the image of the government and halt the development activities of the country. In the name of different false excuses, they are trying to wage anti-government and ant-state movement . . .but we will not let them become successful,” he told a seminar as chief guest on “Digital Bangladesh, not a dream now, rather a reality” at Institution of Engineers Bangladesh (IEB) here.
Convener of publicity and publication sub-committee for Awami League national council and Prime Minister’s Political Affairs adviser HT Imam chaired the function while State Minister for Post and Telecommunications Tarana Halim, State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, AL Publicity Affairs Secretary Hasan Mahmud, BASIS (Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services) President Shameem Ahsan attended the seminar as discussants. IT Expert Mustafa Jabbar presented the keynote paper on the occasion.
Nasim said different government services have reached at the doorsteps of people now through the utilization of information technology.
He said telemedicine services have been introduced in public hospitals under directorate general of health services so that rural people can get treatments from expert physicians from their nearby hospitals.
In his address, HT Imam said the government has already achieved maximum goals to materialize the vision 2021 and it has been working relentlessly to turn the country into a developed one by 2041.
“Many people are saying that the recently proposed budget is highly ambitious. Nobody can make a big success without having a big dream or aim. We have set big goals and we are moving very fast towards achieving our goals,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion Tarana Halim hoped the SIM (subscriber identification module) and RIM (removable user identity module) re-registration through biometric process would reduce mobile-centric crimes.
“Primarily, we found an incident that 60,000 SIMs were registered against a national identity card. Then, we took initiative of SIM and RIM re-registration through biometric process,” she said. The state minister for post and telecommunication said it is not an easy task of registering 11 crore 60 lac SIMs and RIMs.
“We have worked relentlessly and we went ahead shouldering all criticisms . . . when a human being do something with an honest purpose, he or she must succeed,” she added.
Echoing the sentiment of the health minister, Hasan Mahmud said when Bangladesh is moving ahead under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, evil forces are carrying out target killings to make Bangladesh a failed state. “Under the umbrella of BNP-Jamaat, these killings are being carried out,” he added.
