Communications Minister Obaidul Quader on Monday said that a syndicate is cheating some innocent people in the name of giving them jobs in the future construction work of the Padma Bridge.
He said this while addressing a discussion on the “39th death anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman”.
He categorically said no initiative has yet been taken by the government to appoint workers for the construction work of Padma Bridge.
Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student wing of ruling Awami League, DU unit organised the programme at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) of Dhaka University.
BCL, DU unit President Mehedi Hasan presided over the discussion while its General Secretary Omar Sharif moderated it.
Prime Minister’s Special Assistant and Office Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Abdus Sobhan Golap, BCL former President Mahmud Hasan Ripon and General Secretary Mahfuzul Haider Chowdhury Roton and BCL President H M Badiuzzaman Sohag addressed the discussion, among others.
