Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh warned that no irregularity would be tolerated in implementing the DSCC projects.
“I don’t want to see that the money of any project is eaten by termites and any sort of irregularity would not be tolerated…it must be ensured that the project money is spent properly,” he said this on Monday at a meeting at Nagar Bhaban.
The DSCC mayor said the money of many government projects were not fully spent for that particular projects, but the costs were shown.
“The Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina earlier angrily said termites eat up the money of the projects. I don’t want any termite eating up the money of any project. I won’t let it happen,” he cautioned.
“I want to see the money of each project being spent on the specific project,” Taposh said, seeking full cooperation of city councilors in this regard.
Chaired by DSCC secretary Akramuzzaman, the meeting was addressed, among others, by national project director of LIUPC Abdul Mannan, UNDP national project manager Yogesh Pradhanang and UKAID Dhaka Office social development advisor Anwarul Haque.
