The Election Commission (EC) has issued notification to the field level officers (Thana/ Upazila Nirbachan Officers) for providing National Identity Cards (NID) service to citizens without any harassment, but quickly.
Moreover, EC wants to assist the government vaccination programme to defeat the deadly coronavirus where NID plays a vital role for registration.
EC’s NID wing’s Assistant Director (Research & Development) Arafat Ara signed letter was sent to all field level officials.
NID wing Director General (DG) A K M Humayun Kabir asked all to take care as if no one gets harassment to get NID service. Without NID no citizen will get Covid-19 vaccine. So, the students from school, college, university and foreign bound citizens can get NID as quick as possible and without any harassment.
The issued letter said, NID service should be made quicker so that the citizens can get it spending lesser time. Besides, to defeat the pandemic, vaccination is very much important which would be incomplete without an NID.
It further said, people won’t get inoculation if he/she has no NID. Besides, the expatriates need NID for going to their workplaces where mandatory is vaccinated certificate.
The letter requested the officers to do their duty sincerely and kind hearted.
