No extrajudicial killing to be allowed: Law Minister

UNB, Dhaka :Observing that the government believes in the rule of law, Law Minister Anisul Hoque on Sunday said no extrajudicial killing will be allowed to take place in the country.”The government believes in the rule of law and is against the extrajudicial killings. After knowing from various sources about the allegations of extrajudicial killings, we’ve launched a probe into the incidents and sat with law enforcers to discuss the issue. Stern action will be taken if the allegations are found to be true after proper investigation,” he said. The minister was talking to reporters after a meeting with a three-member delegation, led by European Union (EU) Ambassador to Bangladesh William Hanna, at his office.Anisul said the issues of providing space for civil society members, extrajudicial killings and death sentence were discussed at the meeting.Stating that the government is sincerely probing the incidents of extrajudicial killings, he said steps have already been taken to gather actual information in this regard through proper investigation.
