Hajj pilgrims will be exempted from any excise duty on their plane fares this time.
A single ticket fee for them will remain unchanged at $1475.
Minister for Religious Affairs Matior Rahman on Friday announced such excise duty exemption while visiting the Ashkona Hajj camp in the city.
“This year the Prime Minister has declared a cut in the additional excise duty on plane fares for pilgrims, so pilgrims have not to pay the additional excise duty,” he mentioned.
Earlier on July 6, the Ministry of Religious Affairs had instructed to add excise duty to the plane fares and asked the pilgrims to pay additional Tk 3000 with their Hajj package payment.
More than 1.27 lakh pilgrims from Bangladesh will fly to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj this year.
The Hajj flight will start from July 24.
