Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim told the Jatiya Sangsad that the government has adopted a good number of measures for preventing the outbreak Ebola virus though no such virus affected patient was found in the country till February 15, 2015. The health minister said this on Wednesday while replying to a tabled question from treasury bench member Mohammad Ilias.
Nasim said the measures undertaken in this regard comprise forming a national Ebola monitoring committee and a national Ebola technical committee, conducting screening of arrival passengers from West African countries through 27 medical teams at two international airports, setting up seven thermal scanners at international airports, seaports and land ports and formulating necessary guidelines and SOP on Ebola.
Besides, the minister said the government has made arrangements for conducting special observations for 21 days on the screened passengers coming from West African countries.
He said we have opened 19 Ebola isolation wards at international check posts along with an Ebola isolation ward having 16 beds at Kurmitola General Hospital.
Besides, the government has formed rapid response teams at national, district and upazila level along with providing training to the concerned medical teams, he added.
