Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed on Sunday said the corrupt elements of his ministry would be brought to justice in line with the government’s ‘zero tolerance policy’ against corruption.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is committed to take Bangladesh atop of development as she is now in the field to say goodbye to corruption, as it has been considered as one of the main barriers behind growth and development,” he also said.
He was speaking as chief guest at a reception ceremony organized by his ministry to welcome him, the ministry’s State Minister Sharif Ahmed and Senior Secretary Jewena Aziz, said a press release here today.
Officials and employees of Department of Social Services arranged the reception at Agargaon here.
The minister sounded a note of warning saying, “No officials and employees of the Social Welfare Ministry will be spared if they are found indulged in corruption.”
“Undoubtedly, Bangladesh will leave Malaysia behind in terms of development within the next five years, if we can check corruption,” he hoped.
Speaking on the occasion, State Minister Sharif Ahmed said, “There are direct order of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for us to ensure social security of the people and we are working in line with the order.”
Director General of Department of Social Services Gazi Mohammad Nurul Kabir moderated the reception ceremony. Among others, Additional Secretary of the ministry and officials of the department were present on the occasion.
