Chief Justice (CJ) Surendra Kumar Sinha on Wednesday said there is no difference and conflict between him and the state.
“As a section of media presented our speeches wrongly before the people in order to sell their newspapers, so a misunderstanding has been created,” he said at a function in Joypurhat district yesterday, according to Our Correspondent.
Joypurhat District Lawyers’ Association organised the function to accord a reception to the Chief Justice.
“I want establishment of rule of law. And the present government also wants it. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman struggled
and sacrificed his life to establish the rule of law. The judiciary is the only organ that is still being trusted by the people,” the Chief Justice said.
He said delay in the disposal of cases has affected not only the people but also the faith in judiciary.
“To establish the rule of law, the lawyers play the main role. I’m working to give an institutional shape to the democracy. The government is also cordial in this regard. But politics is now griped by the lawyers. I’m calling upon the lawyers to refrain from doing politics,” Justice Sinha said.
