No case found in BD yet, says Health Minister

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque has said that no one in the country is detected with the coronavirus yet.
He said there is no need to be worried about the virus in our country The Minister also said that the government has taken steps to prevent the spread of the highly contagious coronavirus in the country.
Zahid Maleque said this while addressing a press conference after an inter-ministerial meeting held at the Secretariat in the capital on Tuesday.
The minister has further said that they are working to ensure that the virus does not arrive in Bangladesh and the government is fully aware of if anyone is infected.
Airports, land ports and seaports have been directed to take necessary measures and that scanning machines have been set up at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and other airports have received portable scanning machines.
All civil surgeons have been directed to arrange treatment in their respective hospitals. Meanwhile Kurmitola General Hospital and Infectious Diseases Hospital in Dhaka have been asked to take special measures for providing treatment to anyone if infected by coronavirus.
The minister said there are many Bangladeshi students in Wuhan, but none of them has been infected with the virus so far.
“If they want to return home, we will bring them back. But the Chinese government is not allowing any country to take their citizens back to own countries due to a 14-day moratorium as part of its procedures,” he added.
He said the government has not imposed any ban on travelling to China, but the citizens are advised to avoid travelling the country without any urgency.
Replying to a query about the condition of the Chinese man who is undergoing treatment in the United Hospital in Dhaka, he said the medical investigation was performed, but the report was yet to be available.
