No bus will run in city without tickets: DSCC Mayor

Dhaka South City Corporation DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon on Monday said that no bus would run in the capital without tickets.
“We have decided that no public transport will run without tickets in Dhaka. It will resolve the passengers’ harassments. The system will be executed after Eid-ul Fitr,” said the mayor also convener of the bus routes rationalization committee after a meeting at Nagorbhaban.
The DSCC mayor said, BRTA, BRTC, DSCC and DNCC will take necessary steps to formulate the ticket systems and establish ticket counters after visiting fields in a combined effort. The related persons have been directed so that the system could be executed soon after the Eid-ul-Fitr.
He said, all bus counters will be established in same places so that much land will not be misused.
The meeting also decided that circular bus would start from May 27 at Uttara in the city, which have already started in Dhanmondi area.
Similarly, the circular bus services will run in Sadarghat-Motijheel route in Dhaka after starting from Uttara route.
The DSCC Mayor expressed the hope that as a result of the circular bus services, the rickshaws and other vehicles liable for creating traffic gridlocks would be removed from the city streets.
He also said that the passenger buses run long routes out of Dhaka will not be allowed to run in the capital city any more.
The mayor presided over the meeting, while RAJUK, BRTA, BRTC, DSCC, DNCC officials and Bus owners’ leaders were present at the meeting.
